Dr MALONEY asked the Prime Minister, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that Judge Lukin has stated that he was not opposed to the correspondence, in which he indicated he would not accept a salary reduction, being made public?

2.   If so, will he lay the correspondence on the table of the House, so that the taxpayers may know why this gentleman refused to agree to a salary reduction similar to that imposed upon officers of the Public Service, pensioners, &c?

3.   Is it possible to bring in legislation to provide for a reduction in the salaries of judges employed by the Commonwealth; if so, will the Government consider such a step?
