Mr PRATTEN (Martin) .- I merely wish to say that I was a member of the last Parliament, and I regard myself as, to some extent, bound by the resolution which it passed. I also considered that the committee, consisting of Mr. Brooks, Mr. Collins, and Mr. Kell was really formed to indicate what was a reasonable price for this Parliament to give. I am' therefore in favour of giving the sum of £5,000 for this collection of pictures.

Mr Mann - I do not consider myself bound by the resolution of Parliament, nor do I consider that the collection should be purchased
