Mr GROOM (DARLING DOWNS, QUEENSLAND) (Minister for Works and Railways) - A despatch has been received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, forwarding a petition from the Reverend J. B. Ronald, concerning the restitution of his good name, which he states he has lost as a result of various judicial proceedings in Australia. I have also received a communication from Mr. Ronald on the subject. The matter being purely a State one, the petition and correspondence received from Mr. Ronald have been referred to the Government of Victoria, which .has advised that the matter is receiving careful consideration.
