Mr TUDOR (Yarra) (3:24 AM) .- I agree with the concluding statement just made by the Acting Treasurer (Sir Joseph Cook). Upon a previous occasion, after less discussion than has taken place on this measure, we passed a Bill giving authority to float a loan of £80,000,000. The Acting Treasurer is probably not in a position to make a statement in regard to this projected loan; but if he is able to float it on the terms upon which we secured the last loan of £80,000,000, he will be deserving of our congratulations.. I realize that money for repatriation purposes, for the erection of war service homes, and the payment of war pensions, must be provided, and that when the Budget statement is delivered the Treasurer will probably be in a better position than he is to-day to state what our actual financial position is.
