Mr JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - In this clause provision is made for the transfer tothe Commonwealth "on such terms as are agreed upon," of any observatory.-

Mr Groom - That means meteorological observatories.

Mr JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - Are there such institutions ?

Mr Groom - There are outlying stations. A temporary meteorological observatory was established at Mount Kosciusko.

Mr JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - The provision to which the Minister refers does not relate to the central observatories ?

Mr Groom - No.

Mr JOSEPH COOK (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - They will still be retained by the States?

Mr Groom - Yes.
