Senator WRIEDT (Tasmania) (Minister for Agriculture) - in reply- Very briefly, I wish to thank the Opposition and Senator Lawrie in particular for co-operating in securing the passage of these Bills. It is true, as both Senator Lawrie and Senator Milliner have said, that there has been work done in the past by other governments and other authorities and that it is being continued by this Government in order to ensure that the water resources of the State of Queensland are maintained at a satisfactory level and expanded as required by the various urban regions and the agricultural areas of that State. As there is no opposition to and no criticism of the legislation, I think that it should now be put to the vote.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time, and passed through its remaining stages without amendment or debate.
