The PRESIDENT - Before I call Senator Martin to speak, I may say that I have made it a practice in the past to refer to speakers who are about to make their maiden speeches in the Senate. Senator Martin spoke previously when I was not in the Chair and no reference was made to her. I wish to correct the mistake that I made in not being here when she spoke previously. I should like to refer to her now. She is the youngest senator yet to represent the State of Queensland. She was formerly an administrative officer in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Queensland, a mathematics mistress in Ipswich and a lecturer at the Queensland Institute of Technology. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in political science and economics. At the time of her election she was enrolled in a Master of Business Administration course at the University of Queensland. I now invite Senator Martin to address the Senate.
