Senator WITHERS (Western AustraliaLeader of the Opposition) - I know it is unusual to speak at this stage but I would just like to indicate to the Leader of the Government in the Senate (Senator Murphy) that the Opposition is of course prepared to deal with the Bills but we want a reasonable time in which to do so, especially in relation to the Bill which has just been introduced as so many senators have a very deep interest in it. I just suggest to Senator Murphy, or put him on notice, whichever way we like to have it, that we would not want this Bill brought on too early for debate but that we would like some time- some weeks- before it comes on. A number of matters are on the notice paper and I hope he would not be bringing these Bills on for debate too early. Next week would be too early, because we do want more time so that some of our senators may have a real debate on this matter.
