Senator GEORGES - I ask a question of the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. I refer to the papers which the Minister tabled last night and in particular the paper headed 'Alleged Council Letter'. In this letter the head of the Department refers to a letter and makes comments on a letter which is subject to investigation by the Privileges Committee in another place. Since the statement referring to this letter has now been tabled, is the

Minister prepared to table the letter itself in this place?

Senator CAVANAGH -I have been asked that previously. The answer is no. It is a private letter between a member of the Council for Aboriginal Affairs and his 2 colleagues on the Council. I tabled yesterday the reply to the extracts of that letter which were published in a newspaper, and that is a reply only to that portion of the letter which was published in a newspaper. I am not going to disclose a letter which passed between private individuals.
