Senator O'BYRNE (TASMANIA) - My question is directed to the Acting Leader of the Government in the Senate. In view of the growing importance of Australia as a developing country and as a focal centre for regional and international conferences and the need to use the present Parliament House for this purpose in the future, will the Acting Leader of the Government use his influence on his ministerial colleagues to make 1972 the year of decision to commence the construction of a new parliament house and so fulfil 2 long-standing hopes of the Australian nation, namely a new parliament house and a suitable conference centre?

Senator DRAKE-BROCKMAN - I will have a look at the honourable senator's question and see what f can do about the matter.
