Senator BISHOP asked the Minister representing the Minister for Labour and National Service, upon notice -

1.   Did the Department of Labour and National Service and the Bureau of Census and Statistics assist in the compilation of the Treasury Information Bulletin entitled " Projections of the Work Force, 1963-76"?

2.   Why was no special estimate made of a potential work force component, viz., that of disabled persons, although population and married women's participation trends were examined?

3.   ls it a fact that no special employment register of disabled persons is kept by any of the regional branches of the Department of Labour and National Service, that re-employment of such persons is the subject of routine assistance by the Department, and that no planned or specialist service is available to employers and Government departments?

4.   Will the Minister consider setting up a special register of disabled persons with associated services in order that these persons might bc recruited into industry on the specific tasks in which they arc competent and that co-operative action be requested from employers generally?

5.   Will the Government also consider to what extent the means test applying to these persons might be modified to encourage their increasing activity in productive employment?
