Senator A J McLACHLAN (SOUTH AUSTRALIA) (Postmaster-General) . - The point just raised by Senator Johnston is identical with that voted upon in the last division. The Government proposes an intermediate tariff of 25 per cent., as against British 10 per cent., thereby maintaining the British preference under the Ottawa agreement. For the same reason the Government has deliberately fixed the general tariff at 33¾ per cent. We need not debate the amendment, for the issue is plain.
