Senator HARDY (New South Wales) .- Will the Minister (Senator A. J. McLachlan) explain the procedure to be followed in dealing with what has been termed "the most favoured nations " ? I understand that friendly nations will ha ve the benefit of the duties shown in the intermediate column.

Senator Herbert Hays - What is a friendly nation?

Senator HARDY - A nation willing to take a certain quantity of Australian exports, and an unfriendlynation is one that is unwilling to trade with Australia in any way. As an intermediate column has again been embodied in the schedule after many years, will the Minister explain which countries are to receive the benefits of intermediate duties?
