Senator FOSTER (Tasmania) . - Some months ago the InspectorGeneral of the Forces approached the central executive of the soldiers' organization asking them to do what they could to get returned men to join up. I understood him to say that some new amendment of the Act was proposed in order to ' deal with these matters. We have passed the clause in which I might have mentioned the subject, but I may be permitted now to say that I understood that a clause would be necessary to enrol the men so that they might receive pay.

Senator PEARCE - It has been found unnecessary to do that.

Clause agreed to.
