Mr Snedden asked the Minister for Social Security, upon notice:

(   1 ) What is the current establishment of the Social Welfare Commission.

(2)   What is the function of each position.

(3)   How many of the positions are filled at the present time, and by whom.

(4)   What are the qualifications of the persons occupying the positions classified by the class 7 level.


Mr Hayden - The answer to the right honourable member's question is as follows:

(   1) The Social Welfare Commission has an establishment of30.

(2)   The positions consist of 14 positions concerned with research, policy and review. These comprise 6 project officers, class 8, 6 project officers, class 9, 1 Director, class 10, and 1 Secretary, Level 1.

The remaining 16 positions are concerned with administrative servicing and support.

(   3 ) Twenty-six of the positions are filled at present.

(4)   The class 7 position, the only class 7 on the establishment of the Commission, is vacant.
