Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER -On the point of order, there is no former Speaker. The Speaker of the House of Representatives is Mr James Cope.

Question so resolved in the affirmative.


Mr Snedden - Mr Speaker-


Mr Daly - Mr Deputy Speaker,I wish to speak against the motion -


Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER - I call the Leader of the House.


Mr Snedden - Mr Deputy Speaker-


Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER -The question before the House is that the motion be agreed to. The Leader of the Opposition cannot speak to the motion.


Mr Snedden - Yes, Mr Deputy Speaker -


Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER -A motion has already been carried that the Leader of the Opposition be not further heard.


Mr Snedden - Mr Deputy Speaker,I want -


Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER -The honourable gentleman cannot speak to the motion. He rose and started to speak. I ask him to resume his seat. If he wishes to take a point of order, he may, but he rose to speak.


Mr Snedden -I -


Mr DEPUTY SPEAKER -The honourable member rose and started speaking. I ask him to resume his seat. If he wishes to take a point of order I will call him. I call the Leader of the House.
