Mr SPEAKER -Does the honourable member claim to have been misrepresented?


Mr EDWARDS - Yes. During the course of a reply in question time this morning I understood the Prime Minister to say that all academic economists in Australia had supported the granting of the powers proposed in the forthcoming referendum. I retain through my association with the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia some claim to a knowledge of opinion in this area. I would like to say that on a rough count there are at least 40 professors of economics as such in this country and 16 of these- -


Mr SPEAKER - Order! The honourable member is entitled only to make a personal explanation of the way in which he has been misrepresented. I ask him to keep within those limits.


Mr EDWARDS - Sixteen of those gentlemen do not speak for the whole group-
