Mr Clyde Cameron (HINDMARSH, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I can only say in reply that I will send a copy of the conventions to the honourable member for Sturt (Mr Wilson) with a simple statement explaining what all the words mean. He will then see for himself that it is not a matter which can be dealt with under the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act. I can, however, give him the assurance that he seeks by saying that the conventions will be observed. But they cannot be observed under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. There are 2 reasons. Firstly, it is not constitutional to use the Act for the implementation of international agreements. Secondly, it would be an inappropriate Act to use in any event. But, of course, we will honour those conventions that we ratify.
