Mr Enderby asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice:

(1)   Will the UNESCO Education Congress be held in Australia in May 1973.

(2)   Is the Congress considered to be important by the Government.

(3)   Will Australia be represented at the Congress.

(4)   Will the Government assist in financing the Congress: if not, why not.

(5)   If so, (a) to what extent will the Government assist the Congress and (b) what percentage of the overall assistance provided by those countries represented at the Congress will be provided by the Australian Government.


Mr N H Bowen (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

This matter is currently under consideration between the departments concerned and no decisions have yet been made. A definitive reply will be given as soon as possible.
