Mr McEWEN (MURRAY, VICTORIA) (Minister for Commerce and Agriculture) - The ban on the export of merino sheep remains unaltered, as it has done for many years. The only exceptions to- the embargo are that permits to export merino sheep to New Zealand are granted subject to the condition that the animals shall not be re-exported from that country, and that permission was granted for about a dozen merino sheep to be shipped to the University of California in the United States of America foi- scientific purposes.
