Mr DOWNER (ANGAS, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I wish to ask the Minister for External Affairs whether the Government was consulted in the negotiations which recently took place between the British and Egyptian Governments concerning the Suez Canal zone. Does the Minister consider that the evolution of atom and hydrogen bombs has diminished the strategic value of a link which Australia has hitherto regarded as vital between Europe and ourselves ?
