Mr MAKIN - The presence of enemy vessels can be detected. For security reasons I cannot divulge the nature of the detecting devices. I assure the honorable gentleman that the vigilance of the Navy and shore defences is such that should any enemy craft attempt to pass the heads of any Australian harbour it will meet with the fate which befell the three Japanese midget submarines in Sydney Harbour last Sunday night.
