Mr LYONS - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follow : -

1.   As from 1st September, 1931.

2.   Under the Financial Emergency Act 1931 the reduction made in the bounties paid by the Commonwealth Government in respect of six industries was 20 per cent., and in the case of gold, 50 per cent. (subject to certain adjustments based on the rate of exchange.) I have already announced the intention of the Government to invite the parties affected by the sugar agreement to review its terms with the object of providing relief for the consumers.

3.   This is a matter for calculation, after an investigation and consideration of all the factors which enter into the question.
