Mr JOHNSON (Lang) .- I am surprised at the view which has been expressed by the honorable member for Bass. If we subscribe to his dictum we might just as well close up Parliament entirely. All that would be necessary would be to say to the Treasurer, "Here is £1,000,000. Spend it as you choose. We are content to trust you implicitly, and, although it is the people's money, we are not in the slightest degree interested in the way that it is expended. We shall shut our eyes and open our mouths."

Mr Storrer - I rise to a point of order. The honorable member is professing to quote some of my statements, but he is not doing so. Is that in order?
