The Leader of the Australian Greens (Senator Bob Brown), pursuant to notice of motion not objected to as a formal motion, moved general business notice of motion no. 187—That when the Government, or any other senator, intends to rely on the clauses under standing orders 55(2) to (5) relating to an unscheduled meeting of the Senate, leaders of all parties or independent senators shall be consulted in a timely manner prior to the summoning of the Senate.

Statements by leave: The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (Senator Ludwig), the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Abetz) and Senator Bob Brown, by leave, made statements relating to the motion.
