Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Omnibus) Bill 2017

Messages from the House of Representatives were reported transmitting for the concurrence of the Senate the following bills:

Message no. 267, dated 23 October 2017—A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to superannuation, and for related purposes.

Message no. 285, dated 13 November 2017—A Bill for an Act to amend the law relating to veterans’ entitlements and military rehabilitation and compensation, and for related purposes.

The Minister for Finance (Senator Cormann) moved—That these bills may proceed without formalities, may be taken together and be now read a first time.

Question put and passed.

Bills read a first time.

Senator Cormann moved—That these bills be now read a second time.

Explanatory memorandum : Senator Cormann tabled a revised explanatory memorandum relating to the Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Omnibus) Bill 2017.

On the motion of Senator Cormann the debate was adjourned and the resumption of the debate made an order of the day for a later hour.

Consideration of legislation : Senator Cormann moved—That the bills be listed on the Notice Paper as separate orders of the day.
