ADJOURNMENT

The Minister for Resources and Energy (Senator Evans), moved-That the Senate do now adjourn.

Debate ensued.

Paper: Senator Watson, by leave, tabled the following Paper:

Parliamentary Christian Fellowship-Proceedings of First National Prayer Breakfast held on 15 September 1986.

Debate continued.

Proposed tabling of documents: Senator Kilgariff moved-That, pursuant to Standing Order 364, the documents quoted from by Senators Zakharov and Giles during their speeches be tabled.

Ruling of President: The President ruled that, because a motion, pursuant to Standing Order 364, for the tabling of a document by a Senator, must be moved immediately upon the conclusion of the speech of the Senator who had quoted therefrom, the motion of Senator Kilgariff was not in order.

Proposed suspension of Standing Orders: The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate (Senator Chaney) moved-That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent a motion being moved to order that the documents quoted from by Senators Zakharov and Giles be laid upon the Table of the Senate.

Debate ensued.

And the Senate having continued to sit till 12 midnight-
