Notices of Motion:

Senator Kilgariff: To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) in recognition of the contribution of the Northern Territory Conservation Commission (NTCC) and its predecessor the Northern Territory Reserves Board, to the development of Uluru National Park; and

(b) in view of the extensive knowledge of the NTCC rangers of the Park and the excellent relationship which they have developed with the local Aboriginal people,

urges the Federal Government to act to resolve the situation which has developed in relation to Park management, whereby the NTCC is to be excluded from participation in the management of Uluru National Park.

Senator Macklin:

No. 1-To move on the next day of sitting-That leave be given to introduce a Bill for an Act to amend the World Heritage Properties Conservation Act 1983 to make more effectual provision for proper protection and conservation of property to which the Act applies.

No. 2-To move on the next day of sitting-That the Senate-

(a) notes the struggle of the Hopi and Navajo peoples in the United States (US) to prevent the destruction of their sacred Big Mountain in Arizona;

(b) condemns the US Government for its intended use of the Displacement Law (PL93-531) to forcibly evict 10 000 Hopi and Navajo people in order to mine uranium from Big Mountain; and

(c) urges the Australian Government to express its urgent concern to the US Government about this significant human rights and ecological issue.

Intention to withdraw: The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances (Senator Cooney), pursuant to Standing Order 109a, gave notice of his intention, at a later hour of the day, to withdraw Business of the Senate, Notice of Motion No. 1 standing in his name for this day, for the disallowance of the Superannuation (Salary) Regulations (Amendment).
