Senator COONAN (Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts) (6:27 PM) —Very briefly, the government takes the view that Senator Cherry's amendment is redundant, that it does not provide any additional flexibility relative to the current law and, finally, that it does nothing to reduce employer compliance costs. Given the time, I will confine my comments to saying that the government does not support it.
