    (i)the devastating impact the recent multi-million dollar 6-day maritime strike had on Tasmanian imports and exports, and

    (ii)the high losses to both Tasmanian food produce and value-adding industries as a result of the strike;

  (b)condemns the Minister for Transport (Mr Brereton) who would only consider intervention in the strike if perishable cargo was affected when all areas of Tasmanian industry were affected; and

  (c)calls on the Prime Minister (Mr Keating), the Minister for Transport and officials of the Maritime Union of Australia to endorse a general exemption from maritime strikes for Tasmania.
