Senator Parer asked the Minister representing the Minister for Finance, upon notice, 17 March 1994:

  With reference to purchase reference QDEV2, which the department arranged on 5 July 1993 and which was reported in the Gazette on 26 January 1994:

  (1) When was the workshop into `Using Body Language for Effective Communication' held.

  (2) Where was it held.

  (3) How many officers attended the workshop.

  (4) Were any other Pease Corporation workshops held in the 1992-93 financial year or the   1993-94 financial year to date and how much did each workshop cost.

  (5) Who was responsible for organising the workshop.


Senator Cook —The Minister for Finance has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

  (1) 8 September 1993.

  (2) Hilton Hotel, Brisbane.

  (3) 53 officers from a number of agencies attended the workshop.

  (4) The Pease Corporation also conducted a workshop entitled "Work-Related Memory Skills" on 28 February 1994 at a cost of $4800.

  (5) The workshop was organised by the Queensland Commonwealth Directors' Development Committee. This Committee comprises a group of the heads of Commonwealth Departments and Agencies in Queensland who jointly arrange training and other activities for the mutual benefit of their officers. The secretariat for the Committee is located in the Department of Finance's Regional Office in Brisbane.
