Senator McGAURAN —by leave—I present to the Senate the following petition, from 287 citizens, which is not in conformity with the standing orders as it is not in the correct form:

To the Honourable the President and Members of the Senate in Parliament assembled:

The Petition of the undersigned residents of the State of Victoria shows our deep concern of the Federal Government's proposed legislation concerning the implementation of the National Child Care accreditation guidelines affecting pre-schoolers in Community Childcare Centres.

Your Petitioners therefore pray that the Senate should seriously consider the National Child Care accreditation guidelines which will affect the future generation of citizens, in particular those guidelines that assert compliance on Childcare Centres to accept rules that either prevent or discourage the predominant teaching and learning of mainstream family values based on our Nation's Judeo-Christian ethic, and rules that clearly discriminate against the natural gender bias of children.
