Senator GARETH EVANS (Minister for Foreign Affairs) —by leave—As I think Senator Campbell has already been informed, it is the government's intention to give notice this afternoon of the motion to establish that parliamentary joint committee. We hope that resolution can be dealt with quickly by the Senate tomorrow before we get up for the break. We expect the House of Representatives to deal with it later tomorrow. Quite a complex exercise was involved in drafting. Quite a number of consultations were involved between the different ministries with an interest in this. I guess that is the reason for the delay. But it was always intended to establish the committee during the course of this parliamentary session, and that will happen.
