Senator WATSON —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs. To what extent does Australia share defence and other intelligence with Fiji? Will the sharing of such intelligence be reviewed following the stated aim of the newly-elected Government of Fiji to pursue a non-aligned stance and a ban on the entry of nuclear powered warships to Fijian ports?

Senator GARETH EVANS —I am sure that even Senator Watson would appreciate that questions about intelligence and intelligence relationships are always responded to by governments of any colour with a `no confirm or deny'. Nothing whatsoever should be implied from that. I am simply unable to comment and I am sure that that would be the response of the Minister were I to refer that question to him.
