Senator WALTERS(10.29) —Mr Chairman--

Senator Gareth Evans —Oh, Jesus!

Senator WALTERS —The time is now half past ten. Senator Gareth Evans can blaspheme as much as he likes but we have a long way to go on these human rights Bills. Once again the Australian Bill of Rights Bill has raised its ugly head in the form of this Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Bill. Some time ago I asked Senator Gareth Evans whether all the commissioners of the Human Rights Commission were still active.

Senator Puplick —Still alive.

Senator WALTERS —I did ask him whether they were still active. He gave me a fairly garbled answer and then said that he would come back and tell me his proper answer once he had sought--

The CHAIRMAN —Order! It being 10.30 p.m., under sessional order, I put the question:

That the Chairman do leave the chair and report to the Senate.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
