Senator PUPLICK(8.42) —Having listened to the remarks that Senator Colston made earlier this evening about some internal arrangement about Estimates committees, on behalf of myself, Senator Peter Baume and Senator Watson, I simply want to place on record my appreciation of the way in which Senator Reynolds handled her task as Chairman of Estimates Committee D, which dealt, as Senator Baume had indicated, with the Department of Aboriginal Affairs, and a number of other matters, which were perhaps a little more difficult and a little more complex. It certainly took longer than any of the Estimates committees have taken in the past. There appears to be some internal arrangement concerning which Government senators will serve as committee members at the next sitting of an Estimates committee to deal with these departments. I do not know whether Senator Reynolds will continue as Chairman or not under this arrangement. As a member of Estimates Committee D, I want to place on record my appreciation of the extremely fair and capable job that she did as Chairman of our Estimates Committee. I am sure I speak on behalf of all three members of the Opposition who served on that Committee.
