Senator MACKLIN —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Veterans' Affairs. I refer to the tendering on 20 November last year to the Evatt Royal Commission on the Use and Effects of Chemical Agents on Australian Personnel in Vietnam of a list purporting to be a list of Vietnam veterans who have died since the Vietnam war. Was that a true and accurate list of the figures held by the Department of Defence at that date? Is there any evidence that the Department misled the Commission in the tendering of that list?

Senator RYAN —Although Senator Macklin had given some warning of his interest in this matter, the Department has not been able to provide me with the information yet. I will refer it to the Department and ensure that Senator Macklin receives the information as soon as possible.
