Senator MACKLIN(10.23) —On behalf of the Australian Democrats I indicate that we will oppose the third reading of this Bill because we believe that the range of amendments moved was reasonable; there is no haste in relation to this item, and some of the Minister's answers did not meet the questions that were raised. We believe that the three or four months delay required for the Parliament to give more mature consideration to this Bill would be well worth it . It is a Bill that will radically alter biological control in Australia. We see no reason why it should proceed at this stage. Hence we will oppose the third reading.

Question put:

That the Bill be now read a third time.
