Senator LEWIS(12.07) —I wondered whether at this stage of the Bill I could raise with the Attorney-General the question of the Government's attitude to departmental advertising. Up until now, we have had some misleading advertisements. We have been viewing with some concern the advertisements from the Department of Health, in particular, about Medicare. I wondered whether the Government is prepared to say whether it will continue to use taxpayers' funds to promote its own causes, or whether, now that the date of the election has been announced by the Prime Minister, the Government might agree to do the right thing by the people of Australia and stop using their funds to promote government policies.
