To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate assembled. The petition of the undersigned respectfully showeth that:

A. 1. Amendments to the Customs Regulations have removed legal barriers to the importation of hard core pornography into Australia;

2. The introduction of X classification in the ACT, by the Prohibited Publications Ordinance, has removed legal barriers to the sale of hard core pornography within the ACT; and

3. The distribution of pornography degrades women, injures children and undermines family life.

Your petitioners most humbly pray that the Senate, in Parliament assembled, should:

B. 1. Disallow the Prohibited Publications Ordinance and the amendments to the Customs Regulations; and

2. Introduce legislation which adequately reflects community standards.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
