Senator FOREMAN —In accordance with the provisions of the Public Works Committee Act, I present the report relating to the construction of Commonwealth and family courts, Perth, Western Australia.

Ordered that the report be printed.

Senator FOREMAN —by leave-The Committee concluded that leased accommodation in Perth for the Federal Court of Australia and the Family Court of Western Australia should be replaced with a Commonwealth-owned building with adequate room for expansion. The proposed building, to be located adjacent to the Commonwealth Centre in Perth, has been carefully designed to harmonise with the existing environment of the area. The court rooms and hearing rooms to be provided will meet the requirements specified by the users for at least 20 years . Additional space could be made available later by relocating non-court activities. A child minding centre will be provided for the Family Court and the Committee has concluded that its size, design and staffing should accord with State Government requirements. I commend the report to honourable senators.
