Senator GIETZELT (Minister for Veterans' Affairs)(11.04) —As the honourable senator knows, the Administrative Appeals Tribunal is the final court of appeal for most administrative decisions that arise from Government decision making. As I indicated during my second reading speech, the Government has agreed that there will be a special Repatriation Division of that organisation because we are dealing, and will be dealing obviously, with a great variety of cases that require specialised knowledge of war service and war disability. Consequently, it was on that basis that the National President of the Returned Services League was able to convince the Government that that was an essential prerequisite to having the determining system accepted by the veteran community.

Amendments negatived.
