Senator DURACK(11.21) —I move:

Leave out proposed new sub-clause 16 (1A).

The CHAIRMAN —The situation is that the Attorney-General has proposed in his amendment No. (12), to leave out sub-clauses (2) and (3) of clause 16. It seems to be common ground that that should be done so I will put the question first. The question is:

That the words proposed to be left out (Senator Gareth Evans's amendment) be left out.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

The CHAIRMAN —The Attorney-General has also proposed three new sub-clauses to which Senator Durack, by his amendment No. (12), has proposed to leave one out. So the question before the Chair is that the amendment moved by Senator Durack, to delete the words proposed to be inserted by the Attorney-General, be agreed to.
