Senator GARETH EVANS (Attorney-General)(11.21) —Mr Chairman, if it would assist Senator Durack in his dilemma I am happy to withdraw my amendment and allow his to be put first in order that he not be embarrassed.

The CHAIRMAN —There is no need for that at all. His is an amendment to yours and I will put his amendment first.

Senator GARETH EVANS —But he cannot get the whole box and dice that he wants.

The CHAIRMAN —He can that way.

Senator GARETH EVANS —I have total confidence in your chairmanship, Mr Chairman, so I will leave it to you.

The CHAIRMAN —Senator Durack, are you prepared to move amendment No. (12)? You have not formally moved it.
