Senator RYAN (Minister for Education and Youth Affairs)(10.28) —in reply-I apologise for the confusion. I have sought advice from the Clerks. The motion which I moved should have been more clearly moved in the following form:

That unless otherwise ordered General Business orders of the day relating to the consideration of committee reports, pursuant to sessional order, be not proceeded with this day.

The motion refers to the item on the Notice Paper, the adjourned debate on the report of the Standing Committee on Finance and Government Operations on the Income Tax Assessment Bill (No. 2) 1984.

Senator Chaney —I thank the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs (Senator Ryan) for that clarification. As far as the Opposition is concerned, that is a reasonable provision and we would not oppose it.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
