Senator GRIMES (Minister for Social Security)(8.03) —in reply-I will tell the honourable senator why. Senator Chaney's request is perfectly reasonable, as is that of Senator Walters. The starting time tomorrow was put off until 10 o'clock because, as is well known, we had a party meeting scheduled for 9 o'clock. However, we do have to consider the Appropriation legislation, which it is fairly important we get through, and other legislation which it is important for us to get through. The Caucus meeting is now to be held at 8 o' clock. We felt that taking an hour our of a short day tomorrow was putting unreasonable restraints not only on the Government but also on Opposition speakers who would like to speak. We thought we were doing the right thing by the Opposition.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
