(Question No. 4855)

Mr Smith asked the Minister for Housing and Construction, upon notice, on 11 November 1986:

(1) Was a temporary electrical switchboard installed in the existing terminal building during construction of the new terminal at Hobart Airport; if so, (a) what was the cost of its installation and (b) who had the tender to carry out the work.

(2) Was the demolition of the existing building and the equipment contained therein put out to tender; if so, (a) who was awarded the tender, (b) what was the agreed price and (c) was removal of the temporary electrical switchboard included in the tender.

(3) Were tenders called for the installation of an electrical switchboard in the new terminal; if so, (a) who was awarded the tender and (b) what price was paid by his Department.

(4) Is he satisfied that his Department did not pay twice for the same electrical switchboard.

Mr West —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1) No.

(2) Yes.

(c) There was no temporary electrical switchboard.

(3) (a), (b) Tenders were called for alterations and additions to the existing switchboard. The tender was awarded to Knapp Lewer Pty Ltd for $117,893.

(4) Yes.
