Mr Lloyd asked the Minister for Communications, upon notice, on 15 September 1983:

Is it a fact that the Overseas Telecommunications Commission is establishing a commercial travel agency; if so, (a) why and (b) was approval sought for the establishment of the agency.

Mr Duffy —The answer to the honourable member's question, based on advice received from the Overseas Telecommunications Commission, is as follows:

The Overseas Telecommunications Commission is seeking accreditation with the International Air Transport Association to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its Travel Unit which, since the inception of the Commission, has serviced the travel needs associated with the Commission's activities. No approval was required before seeking of such accreditation.
