18 DEATH OF FORMER MEMBER ( the Honourable Robert James Lee (Bob) Hawke )
The Speaker informed the House of the death, on 16 May 2019, of the Honourable Robert James Lee (Bob) Hawke AC, a Member of this House for the Division of Wills from 1980 to 1992 and Prime Minister from 1983 to 1991.
The Speaker advised a state memorial was held for Mr Hawke in Sydney on 14 June which the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and he, along with other Members of the House, attended. The Speaker further advised that the Prime Minister will move a condolence motion after Prayers tomorrow and it has been agreed that debate on the motion will be the only business before the House for the day.
As a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased, all Members present stood, in silence.
