24   Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Streamlining Environmental Approvals) Bill 2020

The order of the day having been read for the resumption of the debate on the question—That the bill be now read a second time— And on the amendment moved thereto by Ms T. M. Butler (see item No. 13, page 1191)

Suspension of standing orders moved

Mr Burke (Manager of Opposition Business) moved—That so much of the standing orders be suspended as would prevent the Manager of Opposition Business from moving the following motion immediately—That the House:

(1)        allow debate on the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment (Streamlining Environmental Approvals) Bill 2020 before the House to continue until every Member wishing to speak on the second reading has done so; and

(2)        notes this will allow Members to explain:

(a)        the Government’s attempt to rehash a failed Abbott-era environmental bill; and

(b)        that the bill is inconsistent with the interim report of the Samuel Review commissioned by the Government.

Closure of Member

Mr Porter (Leader of the House) moved—That the Member be no longer heard.
